Comfort for some and Neglect for others

"Back of the problem of race and color lies a greater problem and that is the fact that so many civilized person's are willing to live in comfort even if the price of this is poverty, ignorance, and disease of the majority of their fellowmen, [and] that to maintain this privilege men have waged war until today war tends to become universal and continuous."
W.E.B Du Bois
There is a price to pay for humans to be comfortable and smug regarding the suffering of other human beings. Eventually the volcano erupts. No longer is food and entertainment enough to suffice. Man cannot live on bread and circus alone but needs justice, purpose, and dignity.
Income inequality, a failing education system, and no unifying principles is a disaster in waiting for human cohesion. Liberal Pluralism takes a strong infrastructure, a vigorous education system, and a unifying constitution that protects human rights and dignity. Tribalism and extremism will flourish with neglect and ignorance. Tribalism flourishes in a desert. Pluralism takes great care and nurturing.
